coriolis flow meter accuracy calibration

  • Précision du débit massique
  • Précision de la température
  • Précision de la densité

Voyons ci-dessous trois images pour l'excellente précision du débitmètre SH-CMF mss.

How to Read the Numbers on the Report

Reading the report means checking that every test point is inside the ordered grade, and then looking at how the error changes across the range. Two recent SH-CMF reports show how this works.

PointDN10 meter, ±0.2% grade, range 600 kg/h3" meter, ±0.5% grade, range 12 t/h
Full scale600 kg/h: −0.16%12 t/h: −0.09%
50%300 kg/h: −0.13%6 t/h: −0.06%
20%120 kg/h: −0.14%2.4 t/h: −0.12%
10%60 kg/h: −0.08%1.2 t/h: −0.17%
Accuracy level E−0.16%−0.17%
Repeatability Er0.03%0.03%

Three points to check on any report:

  1. Every Ei is inside the grade. For the DN10 meter, the largest error is 0.16%, inside ±0.2%. For the 3" meter, all points are well inside ±0.5%.
  2. The tested range matches your process. The 3" meter was tested at 1.2–12 t/h because that was the range set for the order. If your real flow is outside the tested range, ask for the test points to be set to your range before shipment.
  3. Repeatability is much smaller than the error. An Er of 0.03% means the meter gives the same answer each time; a small, steady offset is what calibration is designed to measure.

The serial number on the report should match the nameplate. Keep the report with the meter records; it is the baseline for any later recalibration.

Density Measurement Accuracy

Density measurement accuracy on the SH-CMF is typically ±0.001 to ±0.002 g/cm³ for liquids, within a density range of about 0.5–2.5 g/cm³. The meter measures density from the vibration frequency of the tubes, and the reading can be shown on the display or sent as a 4–20 mA output. Temperature measurement accuracy is ±1 °C.

The standard factory report does not include a density or temperature test; it covers mass flow only. If density is used for concentration, Brix or quality control, tell us at the order stage so the density requirement is reviewed before the meter is built. Questions on density outputs, gas service and other options are answered in the SH-CMF FAQ.

Factory Calibration vs Third-Party Calibration

Factory calibration is the standard water test done on every meter before shipment, while third-party calibration is an extra test at an independent laboratory, used when a contract, regulator or auditor requires it.

Water is the normal test medium because a Coriolis meter measures mass directly, so a mass calibration on water applies to other liquids. Recalibration is usually recommended every one to two years. Shipping a meter back to the factory overseas is costly, so most users recalibrate at a local independent facility and compare the result with the original report.

FAQ

Does every Coriolis meter ship with a calibration report?
Every SH-CMF Coriolis meter is water-tested at 4 flow points before shipment and comes with a factory calibration report showing the error at each point, the repeatability and the accuracy grade passed. A copy can be requested later by quoting the factory number on the nameplate.
Is a ±0.1% meter worth it over ±0.2%?
A ±0.1% meter is worth it when the reading is used for billing or high-value products and the meter runs mostly above 20% of its range. For process control and most batching, ±0.2% is the common choice; about three in four of the SH-CMF meters we supplied were ordered at ±0.2%.
Can the meter be calibrated with oil instead of water?
The standard factory calibration uses water, which is normal for Coriolis meters because mass flow measurement does not depend on the fluid. If a contract requires calibration on a specific fluid, tell us at the enquiry stage so the options can be checked.
Is density included in the calibration report?
Density is not included in the standard calibration report, which covers mass flow only. Density accuracy for liquids is typically ±0.001 to ±0.002 g/cm³. If density is critical for your process, state the requirement when ordering.
How often should a Coriolis meter be recalibrated?
A Coriolis meter is usually recalibrated every one to two years, or as required by your quality system. Between calibrations, a zero check at operating conditions and a comparison against a weighed batch are simple ways to confirm the meter is still in tolerance.
